The
Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) provides mentoring, tutoring and
friendship to at-risk children and youth at schools, day care
centers, juvenile hall, receiving homes and hospitals in Sacramento,
Placer and Yolo counties. Eligible low-income volunteers receive a
non-taxable stipend, mileage reimbursement and training.
Our mission is to find
the perfect placement for our volunteers.
Volunteers are trained
to assist to the specialty of their placement. In the classroom they
may assist low achieving students to "learn to love to learn". At
the Juvenile Service Center the volunteers impress up the youth that
everybody makes mistakes and need not return.
