The very cornerstone of HELP of Ojai's foundation, the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program is federally funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service to tap into the wealth and expertise accumulated by persons over the age of 55 years, and encourage them to share both with their communities. RSVP Mission StatementThe Retired and Senior Volunteer
Program (RSVP) recruits individuals 55 years of age and older to volunteer
in their communities. RSVP
volunteers are vital, contributing members of our community making a
significant difference in addressing serious social problems.
Whether teaching a special needs child to read or spending an hour
comforting an isolated senior, RSVP volunteers all share the commitment to
improve the lives of others. RSVP not only helps to address
serious community problems, but also encourages seniors to continue as
active members of our community by engaging them in meaningful volunteer
service. It is open to all
persons 55 years of age or older. Volunteers
receive a pre-service orientation, followed by appropriate on-the-job
training from the agency or organization where they are placed.
RSVP supports senior volunteers in their service by providing
supplemental insurance, social and educational activities and a modest
transportation reimbursement. There
are no dues or educational backgrounds, income levels, experience, race,
religion, color, sexual orientation, disabilities and political
affiliations. Today, the RSVP program has more than 600 volunteers who give their time to 45 "Workstations," delivering over 8,000 hours of service each month to people of all ages throughout the Ojai Valley. RSVP Director: Kathleen Tarrats Sponsored by: HELP of Ojai, Inc. Address:
