The Foster
Grandparent volunteers perform the following services to
infants, children and youth: Tutoring mentoring, assisting with
learning life-skills holding and nurturing infants and children
in hospital setting, acting as a role-model to teen parents, or
counseling troubled children.
Foster Grandparent are seniors, 60 years of age and older,
with limited income who spend an average 20 hours a week, 1044
hours each year in agencies and programs spending time
with, and assisting children that have special needs. The
program has a two fold intent to enhance the lives of children
with special needs through a loving caring relationship and to
provide a meaningful role and benefits to seniors to enhance the
quality of their lives.
