Local Volunteer Opportunities

YTAX & RENT CREDIT ASSISTANCE volunteers will be needed to assist seniors to fill out the proper forms, so they might get back some of the rent they have paid in 2003, or some of the real estate taxes they have paid if they own their own home.  This project will only last from February 1, 2004 until April 15, 2004.  If you are looking for a short term, worthwhile project check this one out.  If you helped in previous years and would like to help again this year, please give us a call.

YRSVP frequently receives requests from various organizations and agencies for volunteers to drive people to in town/out of town medical appoints.  Drivers cannot be paid for this service, however, we do ask if the clients can provide some type of reimbursement to them for their expenses.  If you have to occasionally drive someone to a medical appointment, let us know.   

YPRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE is needed for many living on fixed incomes with high prescription costs.  If you would like to participate in a program which helps people apply for assistance with these costs, by helping them file the appropriate forms, please call the RSVP office.

YCITY OF KIRKSVILLE/PARKS & REC is having planning monthly activities for seniors.  They are looking for seniors with special talents who would like to teach an activity or have a program to share.
